My Story / My Approach / Press + Speaking

One of my favourite sayings is: ‘people do business with people’, in fact, I bang on about it quite a lot. We are humans first and we connect at a soul level when we find the right people to work with.

This is when the magic happens and this is what I strive for in my work. We spend a lot of time on our work and when we partner with people, we ‘need’ to connect with them on a deeper level. We ‘need’ to like them. To share their values. To feel safe with them. To do that we need to understand more about them, which is why it’s important for you to know my story and how I got to where I am today.

I’ve been on quite a journey to get here, with so many learnings, so many insights, and just a few f**k ups. But let’s go back to the beginning. I started my working life as a data entry clerk for a well known Building Society. MAN that was dull. This is what came next:

  1. PA
  2. Powerpoint Creator (in the evenings while I studied for my Psychology Degree – I was ALWAYS tired).
  3. Took 18 months off and travelled South East Asia. Found myself, lost myself, found myself again (I think).
  4. Marketing Assistant.
  5. Marketing Manager.
  6. Marketing Consultant.
  7. Founder of a Digital Agency.
  8. Director of Social Media (I was made an offer I couldn’t refuse, so went back to working for OTHER PEOPLE).
  9. Director of Social Media again.
  10. Pregnant and founder of THIS business.

I always did things a little differently. I always knew I was destined for more and I had an inbuilt belief that anything’s possible, no matter what the nay-sayers say. In the early days of being a PA I was bored. I knew I wanted more, but didn’t quite know what that was.

So I went back to university to study Psychology. I had a yearning to work with people and help them. Looking back, I was also trying to work myself out, figure out my own issues.

You see I had a traumatic experience in my childhood and this memory took its toll for so many years. Yet still, I had this ABSOLUTE belief that things would be okay. That I would be okay.

Once I’d graduated, I fell into marketing. I won’t dress it up, it was something to tide me over until I went on to study to become a therapist. But what do you know, I had a natural talent for that marketing lark and LOVED it, so there I stayed. Helping people in a completely different way than I’d first planned.

Years, jobs and changes came to pass, before I found myself 7 months pregnant and jobless. FECK! What’s more I was a single mother with no other income. I had to swallow my pride. Rent out my flat. Move in with a friend and start again, from scratch.

Thankfully my business knowledge kicked in and I knew that to survive, I had to start a new business and get it up and running straight away. This business was live before my son was born and I had my first client when he was 5 months old. I worked when he slept, I barely slept myself. My adrenalin was riding a train I couldn’t get off, but I kept on going. I had to, there was no other choice.

I bootstrapped like a demon, I needed to keep all the income for us to live. I learned every hack under the sun and by the time my son was 10 months old, I could afford to rent our first home and pay for childcare for 2 days a week. That was in 2013.

Fast forward to now and I run a successful multi-six figure business with a team of 5. I’m married and live in my dream home with my husband, our three children and two crazy cocker spaniels. Life is bloody brilliant and I feel like the luckiest girl alive.

But luck didn’t come into it, I KNEW I’d be okay, even when the chips were down and life looked bleak. It’s this strength and determination that makes me want to help others (I still have that therapist in me) to show people who might be struggling, how they can do it too. It’s seeing their successes that makes my heart burst with joy, every single day.

And I want to do this for you, my friend. If that sounds good, hit the button below.
