What next? 

When this crisis began, I committed to a new mission: to get all my clients to the other side of the recession with a thriving business and a smile on their face. 

I know so many of you are feeling overwhelmed and don’t know what your next step should be, so I’ve pulled together my thoughts on the mindset and practical things you need right now.

5 practical steps to get out of overwhelm and moving forward:

  1. Audit your business and strip out any non-income generating activities

Right now we don’t have the time or the energy to focus on the stuff that’s not a priority. We need to streamline and focus purely on revenue generating activities. This helps to create the revenue you need to keep your businesses afloat, to keep paying yourself and your business expenses.

This handy set of Google Sheets shows you which activities are revenue-generating and priorities, and which are not and allows you to pause or completely delete them. Then you can clearly see the things you need to be focusing on as you move through this.

  1. Create time in that calendar for mindset and self-care

With all the time you’ve saved by ditching activities that aren’t going to move the needle in your business, make time for self-care. This isn’t fluffy stuff, but it’s vital for your mental health. Carve out some time and space to focus on what makes you feel good and it will pay off. 

I’ve added some self-care and mindset routines, habits and suggestions to the Online Business Audit Tool in case you need some support with this.

  1. Focus on marketing and selling what your audience needs right now

Your audience is feeling like you are: anxious and overwhelmed. What they need from you is likely to have changed a lot.

So spend some time going out and speaking to them. What are they talking about? What are their concerns? What are the things keeping them awake at night? And then take that insight and tweak your offers so that you are offering exactly what they need now as a solution, because what you were selling before may not be what they need now. 

Your people need you, and it’s your job to show up and serve them – that doesn’t make you an evil sales devil! 

Embrace the messy first draught and get your offers out there, because helping people is going to help you feel like you’re contributing in a positive way.

  1. Protect your energy 

There are so many triggers out there: from social media to the news, so focus on removing the triggers that aren’t good for your system. Unfriend and unfollow people who drag you down, and turn off the news!
