I decided to stop being afraid.

I used to constantly compare myself to the big, successful entrepreneurs online, and felt that I would never, ever be as good as them. I put them on a pedestal and thought what they had was completely out of reach, and it was only once I realised that they were exactly the same as me, with the same kind of makeup, and the same chances, that I realised the only difference was that they made the choice to move forward and not stay stuck. They just made a choice, and they weren’t afraid of failing.

I got help.

This one was difficult for me, because I’ve never liked accepting that I can’t do it all.

I identified all the areas I felt “weak” and made it my mission to fill those gaps. To find the support I needed to excel at each of those things, whether it was sales, or copywriting, or facing my visibility fears.

Every single time I’ve invested, I’ve got that money back tenfold, even if it was just personal development stuff.

I got clear on my true passions.

When I first started this business, I was working with brands and corporates and agencies and small business owners. I was working with a lot of different people. I managed to grow quite quickly but I didn’t have my why. There wasn’t any love in it at this point. There wasn’t any real passion.

It wasn’t until year three that I realised I’d fallen in love with small business owners. In year three I felt like I was a lot more established and I felt a little bit more relaxed about things.

I think at that point I was like, “Wow, I’ve been on this amazing journey, and I’ve done it, just me and my son,” and then by that point, I’d met my now-husband, and I’d built this business. “I want to teach other people how to do this, as well.” And that’s where this flicker of love for helping other small business owners came from.

I got comfy being me.

Once I started to accept myself, flaws and all, and be me, all of me, then I think people really started to connect with me, and I started to attract the people that are right for my tribe. That level of connection is really important for me, but it took me a while to get me there.

I showed up every damn day.

I got consistent.

We all hide all the time, I know I did. But once I’d got over that, realising that I need to be showing up all the time, consistently, with a podcast, with content, with livestreams, whatever, to get my message out there, to connect with my people and bring them to me, it all started falling into place.

And even when you’re feeling like shit, even when you can’t be bothered to show up, do it anyway. That shows a level of commitment to yourself, to your business, to your tribe and to the people that you’re trying to attract.
