How to finish 2018 strong

As Seen In...

Heading into Q4, I always see a lot of people giving up. The year might not have gone to plan so far, they might not have hit all the goals they intended to, life might have been a bit mad, they might have mindset issues to deal with or industry changes… but that doesn’t mean it’s time to give in.

We still have three months of the year left, which means we have plenty of time to reach those goals, whatever they might be.

Today I’m sharing 6 practical tips to help you finish 2018 strong.

Listen to this episode here:

If you’ve not quite managed to do what you set out to do this year, this one’s for you. But before we get into it, I want to share one important thing: it’s nothing personal. If you haven’t hit every single goal this year, you are not a failure. As long as you’re committed to doing the work, you’ve got the power to change the path you’re on.

Review your year and notice the patterns.

Looking back on how things have gone so far is an incredibly helpful activity. Identify the things that have gone awry; acknowledge the things that didn’t work. It’s easy to avoid taking another look at this stuff because the thought of failing is so scary to many of us, but it doesn’t need to be.

Failure is essential for business owners because that is exactly how we learn.

  • What patterns have you been repeating?
  • Have you been standing in your own way or is it something else?
  • Every time you note something you didn’t achieve, as yourself why.

Look at this stuff and think about how you can tweak the way you work, the way you react, the way you run your life.

Look at your income.

  • What have you tried to sell?
  • What sold really well? What didn’t?
  • Why did certain things get great results? What feedback did you receive? Why didn’t other things sell so well?

We often forget to ask our customers WHY they didn’t love a particular thing, but that insight can be phenomenal.

When I finished launching Elevate, I sent an email out asking people why they didn’t buy. It wasn’t about trying to make more sales, it was about trying to understand their struggles and objects so that I can tweak Elevate next time I open the doors.

Sometimes the tiniest change can make the biggest difference.

Think about your messaging.

Have you been hiding your message a little bit? That true you, with all the warts, all the personality and all the youness? Have you been keeping your mask on?

You’ve got to show up as the real you if you want to truly connect with people. People buy from people. We’re all human beings and we all select who we spend our time with, both in private and online.

By sharing the true, unfiltered YOU, you’ll attract the right people your way.

Tip: Go and research your people. Look at their biggest struggles and challenges… those things that keep them up at night. Look at the language they use and the dreams they have. Incorporate all of this into your marketing and your tribe will find you.

Be honest with yourself.

How do you feel about selling? Would you rather eat your own thumb? If yes, it’s no surprise that nobody’s buying from you.

You have to be comfortable with it. You have to believe in yourself and in what you’re selling. You have to love it. Otherwise… why would anyone else?

You don’t have to copy the way everybody else sells – just find your way of doing it and get comfy.

Look back at what you’ve promoted this year. How did you do your selling? How did you feel about that? How did you market your offers? Did it do your products justice? Did you own it?

Be honest with yourself and think about what worked and what didn’t. What can you tweak going forward?

Believe!

Do you believe in you?  Do you believe in your business? Do you believe in your products? If you don’t, this is where you need to start.

Your passion and your love for your mission will be infectious, so take some time to dig into that. Why do you do what you do? Why does the world need it?

Take note of all your negative thought patterns and find a way to work through them. I love journaling and tapping, but find what works for you. Whatever we tell ourselves, we believe, so be away of that voice in tour head.

Take strategic action

Decide what you want to achieve in these next three months and go for it!
