Don’t put all your social media eggs in one basket

I’ve seen a lot of social media platforms come and go over my years in digital marketing. I realised in the early days that it’s risky to focus all of your efforts on one social media channel. Nothing belongs to us. They can change the algorithm, change the features, get rid of them altogether without telling us if they want.

You’ve got to think about this stuff when you’re putting together your marketing plan!

Your job is to generate leads wherever you can. You can’t have your entire lead engine in one platform. Instead, create an ecosystem using a number of channels that together create a cohesive journey for your customers.

Focusing on the experience of your people is key here – that’s where the power lies.

I teach my clients and masterminders how to set up a slick little marketing system that will keep working for them, keep bring in customers, outside of any single platform.

In the Smart Marketing System we look at a handful of key elements:

  • Traffic and lead generation (the lifeblood of your business)
  • High-value lead content

  • Conversion, in other words, how we turn those fans and followers into customers
