[tweetmeme]Last week I ran a couple of social media workshops and wanted to show live examples of how you can use the tools on the day. I decided to ask a question to show the kind of response you can get from social media and both tweeted the question and added it to Linked In.
The question I asked came from an interesting chat in the pub with the guys at Mat Dolphin (our studio buddies): What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
The responses came flooding in (for which I thank you all) and I loved them. So much so that I thought I’d make the most of them in a blog post of their very own. Et voila:
- Always be true to yourself
- Always be straight forward in your dealings be it personal or professional
- What doesn’t kill you makes you a funny motherf***er
- Do what you enjoy. No one is good at things they don’t enjoy so don’t do them if you don’t have to
- Sometimes it’s smart to give up and move on
- Promise great results but deliver excellent results. Overdeliver always!
- Don’t sweat the small stuff
- The best way to succeed in life is to act on the advice you give to others.
- Do not imitate anyone, you will end up being a second class version, be yourself be original
- Get it right. Write it tight. Make it bright. And make it march
- It is all about finding right people. If you find them, you do not need contracts. If you find wrong people even the best contracts will be of no use
- Breathe
- Never say never
- Take responsibility and accountability for your actions and decisions. If something does not go the way you wanted it to then you should analyse the situation being honest enough to admit where you caused or added to the problem
- Embrace the concept of the “internal client.” Deal with your boss, colleagues and staff as if they were your clients
- You can do anything you put your mind to
- You’ll never get rich working for someone else
- You can’t get what you don’t ask for
- Always make that extra call of the day. It might be the one that makes all the difference
- Don’t stub a stone that’s not in your way
- Don’t be afraid to use your own life to create a niche for yourself
- It’s hard to beat somebody when they dont give up – Babe Ruth
- You have two ears and one mouth — use them proportionately
- Never run out of cash
- Get it right, get it quick, get it out, and get it over… your problem won’t improve with age
- Money talks & BS walks
- Resentment is like taking poison and hoping the other guy dies
- Follow your heart
- If you don’t really want the answer, don’t ask the question
- Get connected but keep in mind you are what you post
- Indecision is a bigger killer than wrong decisions
- Stop taking yourself and others so God d*** seriously
- Only buy what you love and be willing to live with it for the rest of you life
